Teeth Whitening

What Is Teeth Whitening?

With teeth whitening at Smile Culture Dental, you can reverse years of stains and yellowing in as little as one appointment at our office. Teeth whitening uses special chemicals that are applied directly to your teeth. These chemicals, called “peroxides,” are able to break the chemical bonds that hold stains onto your natural, porous enamel

This, in turn, restores the natural brightness of your teeth. If you’re self-conscious about your smile because of stains, teeth whitening is a fantastic way to restore your smile and feel proud of your appearance once again. If you’re ready to get started with teeth whitening in Eastern Pennsylvania, the team at Smile Culture Dental is here to help. Contact us now to schedule consultation with one of our cosmetic dentists, and see how we can help you get a brighter smile.

Affordable treatment

Teeth whitening is typically the most affordable cosmetic dentistry treatment. It’s also completely non-invasive, which makes it a great option if you have dental anxiety, or are just new to cosmetic dentistry.

Love your smile

The biggest benefit of teeth whitening is the results you’ll get after your treatment. With professional teeth whitening from Smile Culture Dental, you can eliminate stains and yellowing from your teeth, and feel great about how your smile looks. You can smile proudly, and you’ll never have to hide your teeth again!

The Teeth Whitening Process

At Smile Culture Dental, we use KöR teeth whitening products. KöR provides a full line of at-home and in-office whitening products that are powerful enough to brighten your smile, yet gentle and reduce whitening-induced sensitivity.

Whether you choose in-office laser whitening or at-home chemical whitening, our team can provide you with the care you need in Eastern Pennsylvania. Here’s what you can expect from the teeth whitening process:

Cosmetic Consultation

To begin the process, you’ll come to Smile Culture Dental to meet with one of our experienced dentists. As experts in cosmetic dentistry in Eastern Pennsylvania, our doctors can examine your mouth, have an open and honest discussion about how you feel about your smile, and work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan.

Teeth whitening is a great way to restore your smile and remove stains, but it’s not always the best choice. For example, some very deep stains may not be treatable with teeth whitening, and instead may require you to get alternative treatments like veneers or dental crowns. Together, you and your dentist will decide if teeth whitening is the right choice for your unique needs. Then, you can choose between in-office KöR whitening or take-home KöR treatment.

In-Office Teeth Whitening

If you choose in-office teeth whitening at Smile Culture Dental, you’ll come back for a follow-up appointment. Your dentist will clean your teeth, then protect your gums with a special liquid. Next, they will use cheek retractors to prevent your tongue and cheeks from contacting your teeth.

Once your mouth has been prepared, your dentist will apply powerful KöR whitening chemicals directly to your teeth using a brush. Then, they will use a dental laser to activate the chemicals and boost their whitening power. After a few minutes, your dentist will rinse your mouth.

Then, this process will be repeated, if necessary, until your smile reaches your desired brightness. It’s usually possible to whiten your teeth by 5-10 shades in a single appointment. Most patients only need one in-office treatment, but in cases of severe staining, more than one in-office whitening appointment may be needed.

Take-Home Teeth Whitening

If you choose take-home teeth whitening, your dentist will take impressions and images of your smile. Then, you’ll be sent home. Your dentist will send your impressions to our partner dental lab, where a set of custom, reusable whitening trays will be built. These trays will fit over your teeth perfectly, which makes them very comfortable and ensures that all of your teeth will be whitened properly.

After a week or two, you’ll come back to our office to pick up your custom trays, and a set of KöR teeth whitening products. Your dentist will give you instructions on how to use your trays, then you’ll be sent home to whiten your teeth on your own schedule. Most patients whiten their teeth for about an hour a day, though your recommendation may differ based on your level of staining.

KöR take-home teeth whitening products provide the same professional-grade results as in-office whitening, though it will take 2-3 weeks for your smile to reach its final level of brightness. Some patients prefer this, though. Not only is it more convenient to whiten your teeth at home, but since the results are more gradual, it’s less obvious that you’ve had your teeth whitened.

Keeping Your Smile Bright

With proper care, your smile will look bright and beautiful for years to come. Once you've had your teeth whitened, it’s important to take good care of your teeth. Make sure to brush and smile properly, and come to one of our offices in Fairless Hills, Trevose, Huntingdon Valley, Glen Mills, or Trooper for preventive care. Six-month teeth cleanings help keep your smile bright, and ensure your mouth stays healthy, too!

Other than that, you can take a few other steps to keep your teeth bright. Using whitening toothpaste and mouthwash can help prevent the buildup of stains. Lifestyle changes like quitting smoking and oral tobacco use or cutting back on coffee, wine, and tea can help you maintain your bright smile.

If your smile ever starts to look a bit dull or discolored, Smile Culture Dental has you covered. With regular touch-ups, we can brighten your teeth, remove minor stains, and make sure that you always look your best.
